Way of the Samurai 4 Easy Casino

The "Light of Hope Ending" is WotS 4's "true ending" and is required for two trophies in the game:

Watched the "Light of Hope" ending.

and

Unlocked all fashion items.

"Happy Ending" just requires you to see the "Light of Hope" ending on any difficulty; the "Fashionista" trophy requires you to see the "Light of Hope" ending on all four difficulties - Easy, Normal, Hard, and Harakiri - in order to be able to unlock specific "fashion items" from the game's unlock menu.

The "Light of Hope" ending is, frankly, absolutely brutal, and doing it on hard and harakiri is going to test everyone's patience - you have to fight 3 bosses right off the start with no items or save point, you go through multiple battles without the possibility of buying more items, repairing your swords or saving, and towards the end of the game you'll actually have to fight three bosses with no items and - for a good portion of the fight - with no weapon...Like I said, it's brutal.

I do not recommend trying to get this ending until you've played through the game a few times and earned enough money to significantly upgrade at least a couple of swords and acquired and learned styles with damage resistance abilities - even on easy this story-path is potentially undoable to someone without any quality gear or styles.

Also note that the game remembers what you do from one playthrough to another with regards to certain story developments: if, for example, you open the hospital on a playthrough, then the hospital will remain open on every subsequent playthrough until you do a story event that closes the hospital, which means the hospital will be closed on every subsequent playthrough until you open it again...Got that?

With the above paragraph in mind, YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO MAKE SURE that, at the start of your "Light of Hope" playthrough, the Hospital is open, the Language School is open, and the Casino is closed (don't confuse the Casino at the Harbour with the Gambling Den in Town) - if either of these things isn't open/closed as necessary you will not be able to get the "Light of Hope" ending.

Note, too, that in the little walkthrough I've made, I haven't specified the time of day for each event; once you're started on the "Light of Hope" path you'll pretty much go directly from one event to another and so it's really not necessary for that to be provided; if, for whatever reason, you're unsure of where to go next, check the Events tab in your Journal for some guidance.

So, without further ado, you can click on the spoiler tag to see the ending...

[spoiler=flora88]Amihama Harbour Skirmish [Harbour]

Start of the game; draw your sword and run towards the crowd to trigger a different cut scene than the usual starting one; kill the tutorial enemies; when Akagi grabs Laura choose to say "Get your hands off her"; fight a handful of Prajnas, being mindful that you have to defeat them quickly to trigger Akagi's fight; now Akagi should take you on - take out the two guys on the cannon before defeating Akagi; now you have to fight Kotobuki, then Melinda, then...

Meeting With the Three Sisters [Harbour]

After beating Melinda you'll eventually fight the three sisters; focus on just one at a time, get about half of her health, repeat for the other two sisters, and this sequence will end.

A Speedy Arrival [Main Plaza]

Go directly to the main plaza to see Kinugawa arrive in town and have the sisters point you out in the crowd; there will eventually be gunfire, and Akagi will be seriously injured which moves the scene...

Praying for Recovery [Shrine]

Akagi is in serious trouble and the Prajna doctor can't help him; when available, choose the dialogue option to take Akagi to a British hospital which moves the scene to the hospital and a series of cut scenes unfold.

Ability to Lead [Shrine]

After the hospital, head to the shrine to see Kogure struggling with his role of interim leader; after the cut scenes you can talk to him and he'll ask you to check on the foreigners, and this specifically refers to J.J.

Down for the Count [Inside Black Ship]

Head to the harbour and enter the Black Ship; head below decks and find an incredibly bored J.J.; choose the dialogue option that suggests he needs to get off the ship; he'll agree and say that the two of you should go for a walk; go above deck, return to the harbour, and take him to Sushi-ya - just outside there will be a cut scene/dialogue option, and you should choose to tell him that it's "a stimulating place"; inside there will be a cut scene (notice the "I Love Sushi" slogan on the back of J.J.'s coat) wherein J.J. finds his calling...

After this, if you check the Events tab of your Journal, it will say "I'm worried about J.J." or something like that, but don't worry about it - he's not actually to be found anywhere, and there's nothing more to do...

Strike in the Dark [Shrine]

Return to the Shrine to trigger a cut scene where Kogure decides to kill Moro; head to Town and make your way to the Language School; outside the Language School, Kogure attacks Moro; dialogue options will appear during the cut scene, one set for Moro and one for Kogure, and you need to select Kogure and choose the option "Let's not be hasty..."; more cut scenes will occur, and Moro tells Kogure that he should stop pretending like he's Akagi and that he's blinded by hero worship; choose the dialogue choice that goes something like "About Akagi...that's true isn't it?"; now beat Kogure with blunt attacks, and once his vitality is depleted, choose the dialogue option "You've lost".

Pursuit of Knowledge [Language School]

This will lead to the next day; go inside the language school to trigger a series of cut scenes that involve Kogure and then the Demonscales showing up - defeat the Demonscales for more cut scenes, which leads to...

In Need of Encouragement [Sushi-ya]

Your Events tab will now tell you that maybe you should check on J.J.; go to the harbour and go inside Sushi-ya to trigger a truly ridiculous cut scene; J.J. will ask you what you think of his sushi, and you should tell him "It's like...an epiphany"; Kotobuki will arrive and confirm the deliciousness, then J.J. will be arrested for his sushi crimes...

Rescuing the Count [Inside Magistrate's]

Head to the magistrate's and go inside the building; make your way to the back where the torture room is, and watch a series of cut scenes; go to J.J. and tell him you've come to save him; you'll then have to kill several Pig Men before the rescue actually happens in a cut scene...

A Day at the Sea [Main Plaza]

Now head to the plaza for a cut scene where Kinugawa has someone boiled alive; this will lead to another cut scene where Laura marches off to the Magistrate and Moro asks you to go after her...

Laura's Determination [Magistrate]

Laura will be outside the Magistrate's; talk to her and tell her whatever the positive option is (it's something like "We're in this together"); this will trigger a cut scene that leads to you having to defeat several Demonscales before Laura is grabbed by Kinugawa and you're captured...

The Fighting Spirit Never Dies [Inside Magistrate's]

You'll wake up in the care of the three sisters; they will each subject you to their favoured torture, and if you survive all three rounds you will then have to get into a fight with them with no weapons and no items - either survive long enough to trigger the cut scene (seems like it takes about 2 or 3 minutes) or get one sister to about half or 3/4 of her life for Moro and Kogure to arrive, and now you'll have to defeat all three sisters with their assistance...

There's a save point in the cell right by the torture room, so make sure to use it, because this is your last chance to save going into the end-game; leaving the torture room triggers a cut scene that leads you to the Main Plaza...

Rescuing Laura [Main Plaza]

Laura's about to be boiled alive! A cut scene plays out bringing all the different factions together in order to save Laura and oppose Kinugawa; once the cut scene ends you'll be facing many Demonscales and Kinugawa himself - defeating Kinugawa should prompt the next cut scene regardless of how many Demonscales you've taken care of; following the next cut scene you have to fight Kinugawa again, and defeating him triggers a cut scene where he tries to dump you into the boiling water but you manage to reverse him into it, which...does not kill him :|; when he rises, lobster-like, from his presumed death, another scene will trigger and you'll have to follow him to the harbour...

In Pursuit of Kinugawa [Harbour]

Run down to the water when you arrive at the harbour and you'll have to fight several Black Skulls (or are they Black Masks? - I can't remember) and their two leaders - even if you take out the two leaders first, you'll still have to fight the rest of the enemies. Winning this fight moves you onto another cut scene which sees you zip-lining to...

Black Ship Battle [Harbour]

This is it: you fight Kinugawa for the final time on board the Black Ship, and defeating him triggers the path-ending cut scenes - make sure you let the credits play out for another scene...
